I'm getting car insurance through the same company as Nikki, now. She nicely offered to help me out when she learned of my insurance predicament. The company is only open to people that have been in/are related to someone that was in the military. We have to live at the same address in order for me to be covered. Well, what they don't know won't hurt them, right? The rates are significantly better than any public company. Hooray
Lesson 2: The world is a scary place.
This morning, I got up at 5:45 and headed out to the bus stop. I take a shortcut through a rarely traveled, dense part of the woods to get there, and it is very dark in the morning, nowadays. I grew up in the woods, so it doesn't usually bother me much, but there has been some cougar sightings lately. I usually make a fair amount of noise so I don't surprise anything. I was about halfway through it, when I looked to my right and saw 2 reflective circles about 10 feet away... I paused to make sure I wasn't seeing things.
synapses were fired
adrenaline was released
I tried to walk slowly away, but only managed to go about 15 feet before I stupidly broke into a sprint, holding my bag behind my back to hopefully absorb any impending pounce and act as a distraction. Obviously, I made it, I don't think it followed at all. It could have been a possum, but the eyes looked like they were a ways off the ground and not very close together. Regardless, it's just 1 more reason to be happy about picking the car up today.
